Ranked list

The best free crypto alert app, ranked by how many alerts you get

By , developer of CoinPriceAlert · 7 services, competitor facts read on the dates linked under each entry

Short answer

The best free crypto alert app, counted by free alert allowance: Binance's built-in alerts are the largest free plan here at 50 alerts, then Coinsentry at 10 and Coinwink at 10 split across two channels. CoinPriceAlert is fourth with 3 free alerts, and is worth it only if the strings matter more than the count: no account, any market, and all three delivery channels.

I am the developer of CoinPriceAlert, and on this page CoinPriceAlert is fourth. "Best free crypto alert app" has an answer you can count rather than argue about: how many active alerts the free tier allows, as published on the service's own pages. Three services publish a larger free allowance than ours, so three services sit above ours. Every figure below was read off the company's own pricing page or help centre on the date shown, and linked at the bottom of the matching comparison.

What this list is ranked by

Ranked by the number of active alerts the free tier allows, as published by the service itself. Strings attached — expiry, channel splits, coin caps, whether an account is required — are described under each entry, but they do not move anything up or down. Where a service publishes no free alert limit at all, it cannot be ranked on one, so those are listed separately below rather than quietly placed underneath us.

Each one, and where it falls short

1. Binance price alerts

Best for: the largest free alert allowance published by anyone here

Up to 10 alerts per trading pair and 50 in total, free, inside an app plenty of people already have. No plan to choose and nothing extra to install.

Free plan
No price is mentioned; it is part of the Binance app, in its Pro mode
Paid plans
None
Delivery
Notifications from the Binance app or Binance Desktop (system notifications must be on)
Account needed
Yes, a Binance account
Where it falls short
Each alert is valid for 90 days and then lapses. Binance trading pairs only, a Binance account required, and the alert arrives only as a notification from the Binance app in Pro mode or Binance Desktop. Your alerts live inside the account holding your money.

2. Coinsentry

Best for: the most free alerts from a service that is not an exchange

10 active price alerts on the free plan, well above ours, from a dedicated alert service rather than a feature of somewhere you trade.

Free plan
10 active price alerts, 3 watched coins, listing coverage for 1 exchange, email and private Telegram only
Paid plans
$7.99/month, or $64.99/year, which it states as $5.42/month and a 32% saving. Both give unlimited alerts and every feature
Delivery
Telegram (including groups), Discord, Slack, email and webhooks. The free plan is limited to email and a private Telegram message
Account needed
Not published
Where it falls short
The free plan watches 3 coins, covers listings for 1 exchange, and delivers by email or a private Telegram message only — Discord, Slack, groups and webhooks are paid. There is no iOS or Android app yet; its site says they are on the roadmap. Crypto only.

3. Coinwink

Best for: free email alerts with no app and no installation

10 free alerts in total, and it has run as an open-source web service since 2016. Free alerts can be priced in nine fiat currencies, or in BTC or ETH.

Free plan
5 active email alerts, 5 active Telegram alerts, 5 coins in the portfolio, 5 in the watchlist
Paid plans
Standard $8/month; Premium $12/month. Annual prices: not published
Delivery
Email, Telegram and SMS (SMS on Premium, 100 a month, 150+ countries)
Account needed
Yes, a free Coinwink account
Where it falls short
The 10 are a 5 and a 5: five email alerts and five Telegram alerts, not a pool you can spend either way. Browser only — its site links no store app — and crypto only. Its paid plans start at $8 a month, and no annual price is published.

4. CoinPriceAlert

Best for: a small free allowance with unusually few conditions on it

3 active alerts, which is fewer than the three above. What is different is what is not attached: no account at all, no expiry, no channel split, and the alerts can sit on crypto (about 1,680 coins), 85 US stocks, 100 Indian (NSE) stocks, 10 commodities (gold, silver, WTI crude, Brent crude, copper, platinum, palladium, natural gas, corn, wheat) and 14 forex pairs, in one watchlist. The free plan also includes all three channels, home screen widget, daily digest.

Free plan
3 active alerts on every market, all three channels, home screen widget, daily digest
Paid plans
Pro $6.99/month or $48.99/year; Pro+ $14.99/month or $104.99/year (adds priority processing and support); 7-day free trial for new subscribers
Delivery
Push notification, Telegram, and email (opt-in, verified address only), in any combination. No SMS, phone calls, Discord, Slack or webhooks
Account needed
No: the app works as a guest, and you can add an email later
Where it falls short
Fewer free alerts than Binance, Coinsentry or Coinwink. If the raw count is what you are optimising for, one of those three is the better free plan, which is exactly why they are above this entry. Removing the limit means Pro at $6.99 a month.

CoinPriceAlert's figures are generated from the app's own limits and live plan prices, not typed in by hand.

5. Cryptocurrency Alerting

Best for: trying nine delivery channels before paying for any of them

The Hobby plan is free and opens every channel except SMS and phone calls — email, push, browser, Telegram, Discord, Slack and webhooks — which no other free plan here does.

Free plan
Hobby: up to 3 active alerts and up to 10 notifications, on every channel except SMS and phone calls
Paid plans
Trader $7.99/month or $47.88/year; Pro $39.99/month or $239.88/year; Business $99/month or $588/year
Delivery
Email, push, browser, Telegram, Discord, Slack, webhook, SMS and phone calls (SMS and calls on paid plans, capped weekly)
Account needed
Not published
Where it falls short
Up to 3 active alerts and up to 10 notifications, after which it stops. That is the tightest free tier on this page. Trader is $7.99 a month for 20 active alerts.

6. TradingView

Best for: free charting first, with alerts as the smaller part of the deal

3 active price alerts on the free Basic plan, attached to the best free charts in the business.

Free plan
Basic: 3 active price alerts, no technical alerts; alerts last 1 month
Paid plans
Essential, Plus, Premium and Ultimate, up to 17% off annually, with a 30-day trial (14 days on Ultimate). Its pricing page shows prices in the visitor's local currency, so no single dollar figure is quoted here
Delivery
Mobile app push (iOS and Android), browser pop-up, email, sound, plain-text email to another address, and webhooks (paid plans). No Telegram option in its list
Account needed
Yes (free sign-up, no card)
Where it falls short
No technical alerts on Basic, and free alerts expire after a month, so a level you set and forget quietly stops watching. Telegram is not an option on any tier.

7. Altrady

Best for: nobody, if free is the requirement

Listed for completeness because it is otherwise a serious alert product: 50 to 1,000 price alerts, trend-line alerts and a TA scanner.

Free plan
No free plan. A 5-day free trial on each plan, no credit card required
Paid plans
Basic EUR 28/month, or EUR 20/month billed annually; Essential EUR 50, or EUR 35 annually; Premium EUR 90, or EUR 63 annually
Delivery
Email, mobile push notifications and webhooks, on every plan
Account needed
Yes, and an exchange connection: its pricing page says Altrady connects to exchanges by API only
Where it falls short
There is no free plan. Its pricing page lists a 5-day free trial on each tier, no credit card required, with Basic at EUR 28 a month afterwards, and says Altrady connects to exchanges by API key only.

Free, but with no limit published

Four services here give alerts away without stating a cap. That may well mean more free alerts than anything ranked above — but a number nobody published is not a number this page will invent, so they are not ranked. Each links to a full comparison with its sources.

A free plan that does not include custom alerts

CoinStats has a free Basic tier, but its pricing page lists Custom Alerts under Premium at $13.99 a month and above. Its help centre describes automatic price notifications for coins in your portfolio or favourites, which is a different thing from setting your own threshold.

Frequently asked questions

Which free crypto alert plan gives the most alerts?

Of the services that publish a number: Binance, with up to 10 alerts per trading pair and 50 in total, though each expires after 90 days and covers Binance pairs only. Coinsentry and Coinwink both publish 10. CoinPriceAlert publishes 3, which is fewer, and this page is written by its developer.

Are free crypto price alerts actually free, or a trial?

On this page they are genuinely free plans rather than trials, with one exception: Altrady has no free plan, only a 5-day trial on each paid tier. Everything else listed keeps working without payment, within whatever limit it publishes.

Do free alert plans expire?

Some do, quietly. Binance says each alert is valid for 90 days. TradingView's plan table shows an alert duration of 1 month on Basic and 2 months on Essential and Plus. CoinPriceAlert alerts stay active until they fire, or until you delete them if they repeat.

What is the catch with a free alert plan?

Usually one of four: the alert expires, it only reaches one channel, it only covers one exchange's pairs, or it needs an account at the place holding your money. CoinPriceAlert's catch is the count — 3 active alerts — and removing it costs $6.99 a month or $48.99 a year.
