Silver price alerts that fire on the days that matter

By , developer of CoinPriceAlert · Numbers updated 11 September 2026

Short answer

CoinPriceAlert sends silver price alerts as push notifications or Telegram messages, free for up to three active alerts. Silver is roughly twice as volatile as gold, so the thresholds that work for gold fire far too often here; the table on this page shows how often each level fired over the last year so you can pick one that stays rare.

Close-to-close moves of the front-month futures contract over the last year, with gold on the same thresholds for comparison. Highlighted: the tightest threshold that still fired three times a month or fewer. 251 trading days measured; updated 11 September 2026.

Silver needs wider thresholds than gold

Silver is a hybrid: a monetary metal like gold and an industrial one used in solar panels and electronics, which is why it swings harder in both directions. Over the last year it moved about 2.12% on a typical day and more than 6.28% on one day in ten. A 1% alert, sensible for gold, fires most weeks on silver. An 8% alert fired about 1.3 times a month, which is the range where an alert stays worth opening.

Silver also tends to lag gold on the way up and then catch up violently, so a percentage alert on silver often fires on the day the ratio between the two metals snaps. Holding both in one list, which the app does, makes those days obvious.

How to set a silver alert

Open the Markets screen, switch to metals and pick silver, or search for it. Choose a price level or a 24-hour percentage move, pick push, Telegram or both, add quiet hours if you do not want to hear from it overnight, and save. The condition is checked on our servers from then on, with the app closed.

What moves silver, and what an alert can catch

Three things drive it: the same real-rate and dollar forces that move gold, industrial demand that follows the manufacturing cycle, and positioning, because silver is a small market that leveraged traders can move. Scheduled data days move it in step with gold; the outsized days usually come from a squeeze in the futures market. A percentage alert catches those without you predicting them, and a price level below the recent range marks the point where you would want to add or reconsider.

Frequently asked questions

Is the silver price alert free?

Yes. Three active alerts are free across every market in the app, with push and Telegram delivery and no card. Pro is $2.99 a month for unlimited alerts.

Why does silver need a wider threshold than gold?

Because it moves about twice as much on an ordinary day. Over the last year silver moved 2.12% on a typical day; the gold row in the table above shows the difference. A threshold that fires once a month on gold fires several times a month on silver.

Which silver price is used?

The front-month COMEX silver futures quote in US dollars per troy ounce, from Yahoo Finance. It tracks spot silver closely and is not a dealer's buy or sell price.

Can I watch the gold-to-silver ratio?

Not as a single alert. Keep both metals starred in the same watchlist and set a percentage alert on each; the days the ratio moves sharply are the days one fires and the other does not.

Do silver alerts fire at the weekend?

No. Silver futures are closed from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening US time. Crypto alerts in the same app run all weekend.
