Forex rate alerts for the pairs that move your money

By , developer of CoinPriceAlert · Numbers updated 11 September 2026

Short answer

CoinPriceAlert sends forex rate alerts on 14 major pairs as push notifications or Telegram messages, free for up to three active alerts. Currency pairs move a fraction of what crypto does, so the same app applies much tighter thresholds here: a 1% move in EUR/USD is a significant day. Alerts are checked on our servers and fire with the app closed.

Close-to-close moves over the last year from Yahoo Finance. Note how tight the thresholds are compared with crypto: a 2% day in a major pair is rare. Highlighted: the tightest threshold that still fired three times a month or fewer. 259 trading days measured; updated 11 September 2026.

Why forex needs its own thresholds

EUR/USD moved about 0.21% on a typical day over the last year and more than 0.56% on only one day in ten. Set a 5% alert, as you would on a large-cap coin, and it will never fire. Set 0.25% and it fires most days. The table above is here so you set the threshold from the pair's own behaviour: a 0.75% move fired about 1.6 times a month on EUR/USD, which is the cadence of central-bank decisions and inflation prints actually worth knowing about.

Pairs are not alike. USD/JPY moves on Bank of Japan policy and US yields and has produced sharp intervention days; USD/INR moves less on ordinary days but reacts to oil prices and central-bank management. Each pair gets its own row so you can see that before setting anything.

Who actually uses forex alerts

Three groups, and none of them are day traders. People who send or receive money across borders, who want to know when USD/INR or GBP/USD reaches a rate worth converting at. People paid in one currency with expenses in another. And investors who understand that the dollar sets the backdrop for every risk asset, so a sharp move in the dollar index pairs is context for what their crypto and stocks are doing. For the first two, a rate-level alert at the number you would act on is all that is needed; for the third, a percentage alert on EUR/USD and USD/JPY above the typical day does the job.

Forex alongside crypto in one watchlist

Crypto is priced in dollars, so a strong dollar is a headwind for every coin before any coin-specific news. Keeping EUR/USD or the yen pair starred next to Bitcoin makes that visible on the days it matters. Indian holders in particular watch USD/INR because it changes what a coin is worth in rupees even when its dollar price is flat; the guide below on USD/INR alerts covers that case.

How to set a forex alert in the app

Open the Markets screen, switch to forex and pick the pair, or search for it. Choose a rate level or a 24-hour percentage move, pick push, Telegram or both, set quiet hours if you want overnight moves held until morning, and save. The rate is checked on our servers with the app closed.

Frequently asked questions

Is the forex alert free?

Yes. Three active alerts are free across every market in the app, with push and Telegram delivery and no card. Pro is $2.99 a month for unlimited alerts.

Which pairs are covered?

Fourteen: EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY, USD/INR, AUD/USD, USD/CAD, USD/CHF, NZD/USD, EUR/GBP, EUR/JPY, USD/CNY, USD/SGD, USD/HKD and GBP/JPY.

How is a pair quoted?

As the price of the pair: EUR/USD is US dollars per euro, so a rise means a stronger euro; USD/INR is rupees per dollar, so a rise means a weaker rupee. Set the level in that convention.

What threshold suits a forex percentage alert?

Far tighter than crypto. EUR/USD moved about 0.21% on a typical day over the last year, so a 0.75% alert, which fired about 1.6 times a month, is a sensible starting point for a major pair.

Do forex alerts fire at the weekend?

No. The market is closed from Friday evening to Sunday evening US time. Sunday-evening gaps after weekend news are exactly what a percentage alert catches at the open.

Is this a trading app?

No. CoinPriceAlert watches rates and notifies you; it does not execute trades, hold funds or connect to a broker.
