Crypto Price Alerts Not Working on Android? Here Is the Actual Fix
In almost every case this is not the app failing — it is Android suspending it to save battery. Here is how to tell which cause you have, and how to fix each one.
First, confirm the alert actually triggered
Open the app's alert history before changing any settings. If the alert shows as triggered but you never saw a notification, the problem is delivery — a phone setting. If it never triggered at all, the problem is the alert itself: the level may simply not have been reached, or the alert was one-time and already fired.
This distinction saves a lot of wasted effort. Delivery problems are fixed in Android Settings; triggering problems are fixed by editing the alert.
Battery optimisation is the usual culprit
Android aggressively suspends background apps to extend battery life, and several manufacturers — Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, Huawei and Samsung among them — ship far more aggressive versions than stock Android. A suspended app receives its push notifications late or not at all.
Go to Settings → Apps → CoinPriceAlert → Battery, and set it to Unrestricted (the wording varies by manufacturer: "No restrictions", "Allow background activity", or "Don't optimise"). On Xiaomi and Oppo devices you may also need to enable Autostart in the security app, which is a separate setting entirely.
Check the notification channel, not just the master switch
Android groups notifications into channels, and a channel can be silenced independently of the app's main permission. Settings → Apps → CoinPriceAlert → Notifications shows each channel; make sure the alerts channel is enabled, set to make sound, and allowed to show on the lock screen.
Also check Do Not Disturb. If it is scheduled overnight, alerts arriving during those hours will be suppressed by the system. The app has its own quiet hours for exactly this reason — using those instead of a system-wide DND keeps the alert recorded and visible in the morning.
Turning this into something automatic
Anything that depends on you remembering will eventually fail, usually at the worst moment. You will be asleep, in a meeting, on a flight, or simply not thinking about markets on the day it matters. That is not a discipline failure — it is the normal condition of having a life, and any system that ignores it is badly designed.
So convert every conclusion from this article into a condition that can be watched for you. A level you would act on becomes a price alert. A move size that would change your view becomes a percentage alert. A whole segment of the market you cannot follow coin by coin becomes one bulk rule that scans it and tells you when something unusual happens.
Set them, then close the app. The point of Android notification delivery is not to make you watch more closely — it is to let you stop watching entirely and still be there when it counts. CoinPriceAlert sends push notifications for crypto, stocks, metals and forex, with quiet hours so nothing wakes you at 4am for a move you would not have traded anyway.
Never miss a move in the markets you follow
Set the level once and the check runs on our servers, so the alert reaches you with the app closed, on push, Telegram or email, and never at 3am unless you ask.
- Fires about a second after the price hits
- Runs on our servers, so it reaches you with the app closed
- Free for 3 alerts — no card, no account

Frequently asked questions
Do alerts work if the app is closed?
Yes. Alerts are evaluated on our servers, not on your phone, so the app does not need to be open or running in the background. The phone only needs to be able to receive a push notification, which is why battery restrictions are the usual cause of failures.
Why do alerts arrive late rather than not at all?
That is the classic signature of battery optimisation. The system queues the push and delivers it when it next wakes the app, which can be minutes or hours. Setting the app to unrestricted battery usage removes the queueing.
Will alerts still reach me if the app is closed?
Yes — alerts are evaluated server-side and delivered as push notifications, so the app does not need to be open or running in the background. On Android, aggressive battery optimisation can delay notifications; excluding the app from battery optimisation resolves late delivery.
